A Facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, improves the visible signs of aging in the face and neck.
What is a facelift?
As you age, the skin and soft tissues of your face lose their elasticity and gravity begins to show its unwelcome effects. Deep lines below the lower eyelid (the tear trough) and between the nose and mouth (nasolabial fold) as well as sagging skin can create a tired, older appearance. Facelift surgery which is one of the common cosmetic surgeries removes or reduces your skin that lost its natural elasticity, smooths your skin, reduce lines and wrinkles and rejuvenate your apperance.
Rejuvenation procedures typically performed with a facelift surgery are brow lift and eyelid surgery.
How is a Facelift performed?
There are many types of Facelift which may be performed according to your skin, face and neck structure or your request. Type of surgery will be discussed and decided by you and your cosmetic surgeon. Here we will give information about two of them; traditional and endoscopic Facelift.
The traditional (lower) Facelift corrects the midface, jowls and neck, allowing excess skin to be removed. The traditional approach is performed by making an incision that runs in front of and behind the ear. Both the skin and underlying tissue is tightened, and excess skin and fat from the lower face and neck are removed. Traditional Facelift surgery takes approximately four hours and several weeks for recovery.
Our surgeon will make several very small incisions into the skin on your face. Then our surgeon will put an endoscopic camera beneath the skin and the live image will be displayed on a monitör, so by this way surgeon can see which muscles to tighten and how much excess fat to remove. Endoscopic Facelift is commonly used for brow lifts and upper Facelifts and offers a short recovery time and will result in less scarring.
What can a Facelift do?
Results from your Facelift will be long lasting, but it may take several months for swelling to fully subside and up to six months for incision lines to heal. You can help maintain your rejuvenated, more youthful appearance through life-long sun protection and a healthy lifestyle. Follow-up consultations with your cosmetic surgeon will help ensure your Facelift results.

What about recovery of your surgery?
Recovery from each of the different types of Facelift surgery will vary. It is normal to experience some bruising and swelling of the face and neck, but rest assured that both of these symptoms will subside very quickly if you follow your surgeon’s post-op care programme.
